Menopause Expert Wins Silver At Best Businesswomen Awards

Kate Usher, a renowned menopause expert and the founder of Menopause in Business, has been awarded Silver for the Best Solopreneur Award at the Best Businesswomen Awards, the largest awards programme dedicated to celebrating women in business across the UK.

This event celebrates outstanding women in business, and Kate’s recognition reflects her commitment to raising awareness and creating supportive environments for women experiencing menopause. The Best Solopreneur category recognises trailblazing female entrepreneurs who operate as sole proprietors, highlighting their success in establishing and running impactful businesses.

Through her consultancy, Menopause in Business, Kate helps organisations become more menopause-inclusive, advocating for policies and practices that support women during this critical phase of life.

Kate’s work focuses on creating menopause-enabled workplaces that support women in staying in their careers and doing great work while enabling managers to effectively support their teams and model positive behaviours. She aims to create menopause-positive cultures and encourage allyship, ensuring that the built environment is inclusive and frictionless, which she believes results in a win-win situation for everyone involved.

As the author of Your Second Phase: Reclaiming Work and Relationships During and After Menopause and A Couple’s Guide to Menopause: Navigating the Change Together—the latter co-authored with her husband Neil—Kate is passionate about sharing knowledge and fostering conversations around menopause. Her recent publication is believed to be the first book where partners have shared both their separate and joint experiences of menopause, highlighting the importance of understanding this significant life transition together.

Having faced a challenging perimenopause, Kate enjoys working with people and navigating organisational dynamics. She specialises in developing simple solutions to complex issues, such as creating menopause-friendly workplaces. Kate believes the key lies in combining awareness, training, communication, and thoughtful consideration of processes, data, and policy.

Reflecting on her achievement, Kate said, “I’m honoured to receive this Silver award. As a solopreneur, every day is a chance to push for meaningful change in how we approach menopause in the workplace. Congratulations to all the other Gold and Silver winners. It was inspiring to connect with so many talented women driving real impact.”

The Best Businesswomen Awards took place in October at Hilton Syon Park in London, bringing together an inspiring group of female leaders committed to making a difference in their respective fields.

Kate is the author of Your Second Phase: Reclaiming Work and Relationships During and After Menopause, and A Couple’s Guide To Menopause; Navigating The Change Together (co-authored with her husband Neil) which was published in August. It’s believed to be the first book where partners have shared their separate experiences of menopause. Kate is one of the 25 per cent of women who suffered a terrible period of perimenopause and menopause which inspired her to reframe her consultancy business around this important subject.

Today she regularly speaks about menopause and the importance of normalising it at work. For more information about Kate Usher and the support she can offer to forward-thinking businesses visit https://menopauseinbusiness.com/
