SME Magazine Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the SME Today mobile application (the “App”). This privacy policy explains how the App handles your information.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. The App is designed to be a simple news reader and does not collect, store or transmit any personal data to us.

What the App Does

The App reads and displays articles published on the SME Today website (smetoday.co.uk). It does not require an account, login, or any personal information to use.

What Data We Collect

We do not collect any personal data through the App.

The App contains no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs that collect data. There is no user account, no login, and no registration.

What Is Stored on Your Device

The App stores the following data locally on your device only. None of this data is transmitted to us:

• Your preferences — your chosen appearance (light, dark, or system) and text size setting.
• Recent search terms — the last ten searches you have typed, stored on your device so you can reuse them. You can clear these from the search screen.
• Article cache — recently read articles are cached on your device for up to 48 hours so they load faster and can be read offline.
• Saved articles — articles you choose to save are stored on your device for offline reading.

On Android, the App sets allowBackup="false", so none of this data is copied to your Google account. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.

On iOS, locally stored data may be included in your own iCloud or device backup, under your control.

Search Queries

When you search for articles, your search term is sent to the SME Today website (smetoday.co.uk) as part of the request to find matching articles. This is processed in real time to return your results and is not stored or logged by us. The search term is not sent to any third party.

Content Delivery

Articles and images are delivered from SME Today’s own website through Cloudflare, which acts as a content delivery network. Your device’s IP address reaches Cloudflare and the SME Today web server as part of normal internet communication. We do not use this information to identify or track you.

Third-Party Services

The App uses no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only external communication is with the SME Today website to fetch article content.

Links within articles that point to external websites open in your device’s own browser, not inside the App.

Children’s Privacy

The App is a business news reader intended for adults. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children.

Data Security

All communication between the App and the SME Today website uses HTTPS encryption. No personal data is collected, so there is no personal data at risk.

Your Rights

Since the App does not collect any personal data, there is no personal data for us to access, correct, delete, or port. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data from your device.
