The John Lewis Partnership is recruiting for more than 150 roles as part of a major investment in digital. The specialist roles will play a major part in helping keep John Lewis and Waitrose the go-to brands for customers who want omni-channel access to quality, value and sustainability.

Getting ever closer to customers online and being highly responsive to changing consumer habits are key to our future growth. We are seeking to recruit engineers to bring innovation and expertise across a range of technologies including Software, Cloud Platform, Native App, Data Engineers and Delivery Leads.

The Software Engineer and Delivery Lead roles will help to deliver customer-facing projects on JohnLewis.com and Waitrose.com, which together attract more than 55 million visits each month. The Software Engineer and Delivery Lead roles will help to deliver customer-facing projects on JohnLewis.com and Waitrose.com, which together attract more than 55 million visits each month. Onlines sales now contribute to almost 70% of John Lewis sales and nearly a fifth of Waitrose sales – up from 40% and 5% respectively just two years ago.  The new roles will also support the growth and development of the Waitrose and John Lewis apps, which account for almost a quarter of sales for the two brands.

Sandra Christie, Head of Engineering at the John Lewis Partnership said: “We have an industry leading team driving the digital growth of our two iconic brands, Waitrose and John Lewis. It’s our Partners who make the difference and we’re really excited to be making this significant investment in growing our engineering talent.”

Successful candidates will receive a competitive salary, training and development opportunities as well as flexible and blended working in a company that seeks to be the most inclusive in the UK. Benefits include generous discounts at both Waitrose and John Lewis, leisure and learning subsidies, equal parental leave and a Smart Pension.

Engineers will be working across a range of programs and platforms. Software Engineers will work across johnlewis.com and waitrose.com using Kotlin or Java on the back-end and React and Next.js on the front-end. Native App Engineers will use both iOS and Android platforms, and Data Engineers will work on a Google Cloud based data platform. Cloud Platform Engineers will evolve the Partnership’s award winning Google Cloud and AWS based digital platforms.
