Editorial Submission Guidelines

Reach UK SMEs With Relevant, Valuable Content

At SME Today, we welcome high-quality editorial submissions that provide genuine value to small and medium-sized businesses across the UK. Whether you’re contributing a thought leadership piece, practical advice, or relevant business news, our platform is read by decision-makers looking for actionable insights to help grow and run their businesses.

This page outlines our editorial guidelines and explains the submission process, including information for those using our guaranteed publication service.

What We’re Looking For

Our goal is to support SMEs in their day-to-day operations and long-term success. We welcome content that is helpful, practical, and written with our audience in mind. This includes:

  • Guides, Tips & How-To Articles
Practical advice on topics such as marketing, finance, HR, technology, operations, and compliance.
  • Insightful Opinion or Thought Leadership
Expert perspectives on trends, industry developments, or challenges affecting UK SMEs.
  • Product or Service News
New offerings that are clearly relevant or beneficial to SMEs in the UK market.
  • Case Studies
Real-world examples of business success, innovation, or lessons learned—with insights that other SMEs can apply.
  • In Profile – Q&A Interviews
Business leaders or entrepreneurs can submit a Q&A-style article, offering insights into their industry, company journey, and lessons learned.
  • UK-Focused Industry News
Legislative changes, funding opportunities, business support schemes, or trends impacting UK SMEs.

What We’re Not Looking For

To keep SME Today useful and relevant to our readers, we do not accept:

  • Content with no clear relevance or value to UK SMEs
  • Announcements about internal company changes, unless they affect SME services
  • Overly promotional press releases or advertorials without practical insight
  • News about markets, products, or events with no UK or SME relevance

How to Submit Your Article or Press Release

To submit editorial content for consideration, please email: editorial@smetoday.co.uk

Include the following with your submission:

  1. The full article or press release (preferably in Word or plain text format)
  2. Images:
    • Featured Image:
A landscape-format image (JPEG or PNG) is mandatory for all published articles and press releases. This is used as the main visual on the website and in our newsletter. *
    • Additional Images:
You may include additional images in any format (portrait or landscape), including product shots, charts/graphics and author headshots.

*Important: We cannot publish any submissions without a featured image of appropriate dimensions.

  1. Your contact details
  2. Author details:
    • If you would like an author to be credited, please ensure their full name and short bio are included in the submission.
  3. Links
    • If you want any website or product links included in your article, these must be clearly included in the submitted copy. Our editors cannot assume where links should go or add them after the fact.

All submissions are reviewed for editorial suitability, relevance to UK SMEs, and adherence to our content standards. We may edit for clarity, grammar, or length.
