Communication Expert Takes On President Role For National Speaking Association

Posted By Greg Robinson on March 24, 2026 People

Generational communication expert and long-time Professional Speaking Association (PSA) member Alastair Greener has stepped into the role of President of the PSA UK and Ireland for 2026.

His appointment was announced at the PSA’s annual Speaking Business Summit in Telford last October, where members from across the UK and Ireland came together for two days of talks, workshops and networking.

Alastair said he felt “excited, proud and genuinely honoured” when his name was announced at the gala dinner, adding that taking on the presidency felt like “a real milestone moment” after many years being part of the Association.

Based on the Wiltshire and Berkshire border, Alastair said he was humbled to follow in the footsteps of previous Presidents and paid tribute to outgoing President Michelle Mills-Porter. Watching her bring people together over the past year reminded him “just how powerful the PSA community can be when people share ideas and support one another,” he said.

Reflecting on the Summit, Alastair said the atmosphere in Telford was full of energy and warmth, and that the conversations he had over the weekend highlighted how much the speaking profession continues to evolve.

“With more speakers now delivering talks across digital platforms, hybrid events and international stages, connection matters more than ever,” Alastair said. “That’s why I’ve chosen The Art of Connection as my theme for the year ahead.”

He hopes the theme will encourage members to think more intentionally about how they build relationships with audiences, clients and each other, particularly at a time when communication styles can vary widely across generations.

During his presidency, Alastair will travel to all fourteen PSA regions to meet members, share ideas and spotlight the different ways speakers are growing their businesses. He said he is especially looking forward to hearing how people are adapting to a fast-changing industry and building careers that feel both sustainable and meaningful.

Alastair has also announced two key events in the PSA calendar. The first is IMPACT!, taking place on 18 April in Leeds, followed by the 2026 Speaking Business Summit, which will be held on 16 and 17 October at the Oxford Belfry Hotel and Spa.

He said he hopes both events will build on the momentum from Telford and continue to strengthen the sense of community within the Association, adding that “the PSA is at its strongest when people stay curious and keep learning from each other.”

Alastair is a communication consultant and speaker specialising in generational communication. His first book, Generationally Speaking: How to bridge the generation gap and communicate with confidence, released at the end of last year, explores how eight generations can communicate more effectively at work and in everyday life.

He also hosts The Generationally Speaking Podcast, where he speaks with guests from business, education and media about how different generations see the world.
