The Loo of the Year Awards has announced a new partnership with the Independent Washroom Suppliers Association (IWSA), marking a significant step in recognising the wider supply chain that supports high standards in washroom facilities across the UK.
The collaboration will see the introduction of new awards specifically for IWSA members, shining a light on the businesses and individuals who provide the equipment, products and services that help venues maintain exceptional washroom standards.
Run by Becky Wall BEM and her husband Charles Wall, the Loo of the Year Awards has spent almost four decades celebrating excellence in ‘away from home’ washroom facilities. Central to the scheme is an independent inspection process, where entrants receive an unannounced visit and are assessed against 101 criteria, including cleanliness, décor, signage, accessibility and customer care.
Becky said “Washroom standards don’t happen by accident. They rely not only on good onsite management but also on trusted suppliers providing reliable equipment and services behind the scenes.
“This partnership allows us to recognise the full picture – from the venues themselves through to the specialist providers who help maintain those standards day in, day out. It’s an important step in continuing to raise expectations across the industry.”
The IWSA represents independent businesses across the UK and Ireland that supply essential washroom services and products, including hand dryers, sanitary disposal systems and other hygiene equipment. Members operate to a strict Code of Conduct and Customer Charter, ensuring high levels of service, compliance and professionalism.
Paul Thrupp, Chairperson of the Independent Washroom Suppliers Association, said
“The IWSA has grown significantly in recent years and now represents a large proportion of independent
washroom service providers across the UK and Ireland.
“As the voice of the sector, it’s important that we continue to raise standards and support our members in delivering high-quality, local services to their clients.
“Partnering with the Loo of the Year Awards is a natural step. It allows us to recognise not just the venues, but also the suppliers and professionals working behind the scenes to maintain those standards. Our members operate to a strict Code of Conduct and are continually assessed to ensure they deliver safe, compliant and high-quality services.
“This collaboration gives our members access to a respected national platform while helping to drive consistency, innovation and best practice across the industry. The introduction of new awards will celebrate both businesses and individuals, while also sending a clear message that washroom standards, accessibility and user experience are being taken seriously across the sector.”
Further details about the new award categories will be announced ahead of the Loo of the Year Awards 2026 celebration event on Wednesday 13th January 2027. For more information visit https://www.loo.co.uk
