E-Commerce Growth Drives Expansion For James and James Fulfilment

Posted By sme-admin on July 7, 2021 News

James and James Fulfilment, a provider of outsourced fulfilment services to online retailers, announces that significant growth over the last 12-18 months has led to strategic investments in new hires, infrastructure and facilities at its Northamptonshire-based headquarters.

Through 2021, James and James hired 92 people and expanded its operational capacity with a new state-of-the-art, multi-million pound, 600,000 sq ft distribution centre. These investments will benefit employees and clients and support future UK, European and US growth.

Of the 92 people hired, 27 are based from James and James’s headquarters (HQ) and 65 within their UK fulfilment centres. Recent key strategic hires to the business include Ajay Patel, Chief Financial Officer (CFO); Paul Wright, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Claude Mosseri, Chief Customer Officer (CCO). They join the existing senior leadership team members, which include Clara Buckingham, Chief People Officer (CPO) and Neil Sant, Chief Operations Officer (COO). Hiring has also recently started for a Chief Sales Officer (CSO), who will complete the senior leadership team.

To enable future anticipated growth, James and James is hiring for important roles in Marketing, Finance, Tech and Learning & Development too, to be based at the firm’s Northampton HQ. The team expects to increase the Northampton fulfilment centre head count in the near future by around 30 – 60 permanent staff.

Through the additional capacity created by its new distribution centre, James and James has increased operational capacity to 600,000 sq ft in the UK. Clients now have more access to capacity if needed, as well as a broader array of fulfilment services. This ranges from the storage of products; to the pick, pack and despatch of online orders; to the handling of any returns. Clients benefit from James and James’s cloud-based order fulfilment software too. eCommerce businesses can outsource fulfilment in confidence.

James Hyde, CEO, James and James Fulfilment says:
“We are constantly evaluating how we can drive innovation for ourselves and our eCommerce clients. For some, this means access to more capacity, for others it means using technology and services to manage fulfilment, and for others it means supporting them as they scale across the UK, Europe and USA. Regardless of their requirements, we’re prepared for – and in a strong position – to support clients as they grow. Our investment in people, infrastructure and facilities forms a crucial part of setting us, our clients and partners up for future success.”

In addition to this, on 8th July James and James will host its first in-person ‘Scale Up’ event at its new HQ. The event brings together high profile business figures to discuss how to do business in a post-Covid-19 and post-Brexit world. James and James will also be presented the Queen’s Award for International Trade by The Lord-Lieutenant of the County of Northamptonshire.
