Virgin Media O2 supercharges small business services with first joint product offering

Virgin Media O2 is today lifting the lid on its first joint product offering, Volt, giving small businesses and entrepreneurs even more from its services – more speed, more data and more value.

Small businesses with up to 10 employees can now supercharge their services and reap extra rewards simply by being customers of both brands. From a 4G startup and backup service to keep them connected no matter what, to double mobile data, through Volt small businesses and start-ups can unlock a host of exclusive benefits. All they have to do is take a Voom broadband service from Virgin Media Business and an eligible O2 Small Biz tariff. And, when they join O2 they’ll also get exclusive access to perks and experience from Priority – one of the UK’s best loyalty initiatives.

Exclusive Volt benefits include:

  • Inclusive 4G start-up and back-up, powered by O2, to keep their business connected when they need it most
  • Double mobile data on all eligible O2 Small Biz tariffs (e.g. 6GB boosted to 12GB)

Volt is available to both new and existing customers, offering exclusive benefits to named account holders no matter what Voom business broadband package they take. Those new to Virgin Media Business or O2 Business will be able to upgrade to Volt when they add relevant services to their connectivity line-up, while existing customers of both Virgin Media Business and O2 Business simply need to contact either provider to get their services boosted.

This exciting milestone for Virgin Media O2 Business means that small business customers can get even greater value from their services, with possible savings of up to £168 across a 24 month contract for customers taking a 4G back-up service when they supercharge their services with Volt.

Jo Bertram, Managing Director, Business and Wholesale at Virgin Media O2, said: “With Volt, we’re combining Virgin Media’s ultrafast Voom broadband with O2’s award winning mobile network, as well as additional perks, to give small businesses everything they need to thrive.

“Small businesses are the backbone of the economy and after a transformational 18 months, it’s more important than ever that we help them stay connected wherever, whenever.”

The launch of converged services comes after Virgin Media Business provided Britain’s small businesses with a free speed boost earlier in the year. The move, designed to help businesses bounce back from Covid-19, saw the operator significantly increase upload speeds for existing customers at no extra cost.

Voom Fibre broadband packages offer download speeds starting at 350Mbps, and reaching 500Mbps on Voom 500, with customers able to choose from several packages offering different upload speeds, service level agreements and static IP options. Small Biz tariffs from O2 are designed with simplicity and flexibility in mind. They are all 5G enabled and include unlimited minutes and unlimited texts as standard. Small business customers can benefit from data rollover for tariffs with 6GB of data or more, and the option to add business apps on 30-day rolling contracts – so they can work smarter from anywhere, with peace of mind that their service is future-proofed.

Employee and employers aligned on benefits of hybrid work

Virgin Media O2 Business’ converged services are perfect for businesses looking to stay connected anywhere: whether at home, in their place of work or on the go. Recent research from Virgin Media O2 Business and Centre for Economics and Business Research reveals that both employers and employees share similar views on hybrid working – both expecting it to continue. Employees now expect to work remotely 2.5 days per week, while company leaders also expect employees to work remotely about half of the week (2.3 days).

Hybrid workers report being more productive (36%), more in control of their work (34%), and feeling trusted (26%) and empowered (27%), with 20% less distracted when working at home.

According to the research, business leaders share employees’ enthusiasm for hybrid working, with more than two thirds (69%) believing changes to working policies driven by Covid-19 will be made permanent. This has been motivated by growing demand among employees for better work-life balance, with 85% reporting that working remotely offers them additional leisure time to relax, see family and friends or spend time pursuing hobbies.
