An Interview with Mike Reid, CEO of Goldster

Posted By sme-admin on July 20, 2022 In Profile, Wellbeing & Mental Health

Mike Reid is CEO of Goldster– a digital platform that offers an extensive range of non-drug interventions online to people for their health and wellness. SME Today spoke to him about his role, his inspiration and what advice he would offer other entrepreneurs or startups.

Tell us about Goldster

Launched in 2021, Goldster delivers an extensive range of non-drug interventions online to people for their health and wellness.

Goldster’s Systematic Wellness Intervention Pathway (SWIP) non-drug evidence framework assesses and delivers health solutions throughout the day, through live social classes led by experts and celebrities.

The platform provides over 450 classes designed to deliver physical, emotional and cognitive benefits. So far, we have over 20,000 class attendances per month, and users can modify and change the frequency of activities to suit their needs.

What do you currently do at Goldster?

I work with some of the most inspiring, motivating and exceptional people on the planet – it’s a family to us. One of my key roles is to create and develop Goldster products and future innovations and fulfill the goals and dreams from many years ago with the co-founder, Mike. I hope to create the vision for people to be inspired to make a difference everyday – because that is what we strive for as a company.

What was the inspiration behind the business?

Our inspiration stems from a humanitarian need to develop and deliver innovative non-drug social treatments for the most vulnerable groups of society – from people with dementia through to all people who age.

Goldster is the evolution of a 20-year history in building and implementing therapeutic non-drug interventions across the globe. Starting in children’s therapeutic models for care, through to the first non-drug prescription for dementia developed in China.

What is Goldster’s goal/aim?

As a research and clinical based group, we’ve seen the enormous gap in evidence on the comparative benefits, dosage levels, and prescription tools of many healthy activities – or the “non-drug” approach.

Ultimately, our goal is to provide non-drug prescriptions to everyone for their health, to all aspects of an individual’s life to reduce the burden on systems and governments.

What can we hope to see from Goldster in the future?

Over the last 12 months, we have built the only prescription tool for wellness called the Structure Wellness Intervention Pathway (SWIP). We want to continue engaging large populations by providing fun, precise activities to cater to their likes, wants and needs. The activities are driven forward by our experts and influential personalities, who share and teach their desired health and wellbeing expertise and insights in a clinical research environment. This leverages Goldster’s class infrastructure, as we’re able to offer a wide range of activities for people to participate in.

We are looking to launch personal prescriptions later this year, which will particularly aimed at the institutional and government markets.

What tips would you provide other entrepreneurs or startups?

It’s important to foster an environment of learning and challenging thinkers so you can grow together as a business and really push the boundaries. Encouraging passion and drive from the people you work with is a must for a business of any size, but it is infinitely more important for startups to cut above the rest and truly make a mark in your sector.

Finally, I always abide by the process of: create, implement and evaluate. The cycle of planning, doing, and learning in an iterative way will put you on the right track to growing your business efficiently. Remember, action causes fast thinking. Thinking doesn’t cause action.
