Document Management Specialists Celebrate Ten Years Of Collaboration Across Borders

Posted By Greg Robinson on November 17, 2025 Technology

Berkshire-based document management and software specialists Filestream are celebrating a decade of working with Dublin-based Datascan Document Services.

The two companies have collaborated for more than ten years to support a range of clients, particularly in the health care sector in Ireland, to ensure all sensitive documentation is processed in a fully encrypted manner prior to its secure delivery.

Paul Day, MD of Filestream, said: “It’s a moment to celebrate this successful partnership. Working with Orla and her team has been a joy and we are very grateful to them for believing in us back then – and still trusting us and our software, Filestream 5, to take them into the future.”

Datascan Document Services works in Ireland with forward-thinking businesses and organisations which wish to generate and keep less paper documents – while ensuring that critical sensitive material is processed and stored in a secure and safe environment. It’s a service they have offered since 2009 alongside a closely-monitored confidential shredding service. Their clients range from GP practices, private medical clinics, private hospitals, insurers and credit unions.

The latter are highly trusted in Ireland by the population and repeatedly top the Reputation Index – it’s a trust that the team at Datascan Document Services value very highly.

Filestream is the creator of the document management software used by Datascan Document Services to ensure that safety and security are always front of mind.

Orla Cafferty, CEO of Datascan Document Services, said: “We found Filestream through their Irish dealer – Barry Woods of  Woodsoft – after looking for a new provider. Our previous software was far too restrictive and formulaic for our needs.

“When documents come to us, they arrive in all sorts of formats, styles and ways and are still on paper – so we were looking for a solution which was more agile, more flexible and that we could tailor to suit the eclectic nature of our business.

“We were attracted to Filestream for several reasons – one was affordability, another was it was a smaller company so they were (and are) responsive when customisation is required and the fact that the entire environment is encrypted. We have worked with them ever since and we value the relationship we have with them ten years on.”

Working in collaboration with Filestream, Datascan Document Services has plans to expand over the coming years. With the Irish national roll-out of the Electronic Health Record taking place over the next four years, Datascan plans to expand its services into acute hospitals. This will facilitate the provision of accurate, up-to-date patient data.

Orla continued, “We currently have a team of 35 employees, and we’re looking to expand our client base, especially within the health, public service, and financial sectors, so we’re working with Filestream to ensure that we can scale what we do as we welcome more clients who take the safety and security of their own customers very seriously”.
