Building community, one cause at a time

Housebuilder Barratt David Wilson Homes South Wales is continuing its mission to building stronger communities by donating £4,500 to local charities — making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

Over the last three months, Barratt has donated £1,500 each to Cure EB, Bowel Cancer UK and 21 Plus through its Community Fund — an initiative designed to support community groups and charitable organisations in the areas close to its developments.

Richard Lawson, Sales Director at Barratt David Wilson Homes South Wales, said: “At Barratt, we are proud to support the communities where we build — not just through our homes but by supporting the people and causes that hold those communities together.

“Our Community Fund gives us the opportunity to help where it’s needed most — whether that’s by supporting children and families through times of difficult diagnosis or funding much-needed moments of joy and connection. These three charities truly represent what it means to care for others.”

With more than £2.5m* donated through the fund since 2022, the initiative will enable charities like Cure EB — which conducts research into finding effective treatments and a cure for Epidermolysis Bullosa — to provide symptomatic relief and an improvement in quality of life for those living with the devastating disease. Similarly, Bowel Cancer UK works to save lives through raising awareness and supporting life-saving research efforts.

Although national charities, both Cure EB and Bowel Cancer UK play a vital role in supporting individuals and families across Welsh communities — offering local access to information, advocacy and care when it’s needed most.

Also being supported by Barratt’s donation is 21 Plus — a regional charity dedicated to supporting children and young people with Down’s syndrome, and their families, across South East Wales.

Its work is deeply rooted in promoting care and education whilst enabling those with Down’s syndrome to reach their full potential — through the provision of training, support, education and practical advice.

Barratt David Wilson Homes South Wales’ latest round of donations highlights its ongoing commitment to leaving a legacy in the communities in which it operates.

* This is the total number of donations made through the programme across all Barratt divisions and includes the Christmas donations (now Winter Fund).
