The Thames Valley Business & Community Awards is honoured to announce that Ben Gallagher, former Special Forces soldier, Team GB athlete and inspirational speaker, will deliver the keynote address at next Friday’s prestigious awards ceremony at the Hilton Reading.
Ben Gallagher served over 16 years in the British Army, including time within the UK Special Forces community, dedicating his life to serving his country at the highest level. However, while on active duty, Ben sustained life-changing injuries that dramatically altered the course of his life.
Rather than allowing adversity to define him, Ben chose to rebuild.
Demonstrating extraordinary resilience, discipline and mental strength — qualities forged during his military career — Ben transitioned into elite sport and has since gone on to represent Great Britain, proving that setbacks do not determine outcomes. His journey from frontline service to international competition is a testament to courage, determination and unwavering belief.
At the Thames Valley Business & Community Awards, Ben will share his powerful story of:
- Overcoming trauma and rebuilding identity
- Mental resilience under extreme pressure
- Leadership and teamwork in high-performance environments
- Turning adversity into opportunity
His story mirrors the very spirit of the awards — celebrating individuals and organisations who show strength, innovation, leadership and community impact even in the face of challenge.
Event organiser Alec from Great British Expos Ltd commented:
“Ben’s journey is nothing short of extraordinary. From serving our country in the Special Forces to competing for Team GB after life-changing injuries, his resilience and mindset are truly inspiring. We are incredibly proud to have him speaking at this year’s awards.”
The Thames Valley Business & Community Awards recognises the outstanding achievements of businesses, entrepreneurs and community leaders across the region.
With over 1,400 nominations received this year, the 2026 ceremony promises to be a powerful celebration of determination, success and positive impact.
Ben’s keynote address is set to be one of the most moving and motivating moments of the evening.
The black-tie ceremony will take place Friday 27th February at the Hilton Reading.
