Pistachio Design celebrates 20 years of creative innovation

Pistachio Design, a leading creative agency known for its bold, innovative design solutions, is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2025.

Founded by two creative leaders in 2005, Pistachio started as a small, ambitious creative agency with big dreams. Fast forward to today, and you’re looking at an established, forward-thinking agency that’s made its mark across branding, design, animation and digital communications.

A journey of ingenuity and collaboration

Pistachio was created to fill a gap in the market for brands wanting agile, creative support. From the very start, the agency focused on delivering more than just great creative — it sought to craft stories that resonate with audiences, establishing long-lasting connections through design. The agency’s commitment to bold, ‘consistently individual’ design has been a trademark of its success over the years.

The agency’s journey has been one of constant evolution and growth. Pistachio’s first office opened in Berkshire in 2006, and since then, the agency has moved through several locations across the region, to meet the creative needs of its growing team. In 2018, Pistachio opened its Nottingham office, which has since become a vital hub for expanding animation and design services. Pistachio HQ now operates from its new digs in Bray, a picturesque office on the River Thames that offers the team an inspiring space to collaborate and create.

The power of rebranding

One of the most significant moments in Pistachio’s recent history was its rebrand. Led in 2023 by founder and Creative Director Marie Holden, the rebrand reflected Pistachio’s evolving identity, ethos, and commitment to remaining ahead of the curve. This bold new look included a new logo, key messaging, and animated avatars of each employee, all designed to reflect the agency’s core values of creativity, authenticity, and individuality.

The success of the rebrand has been evident in Pistachio’s ability to attract new clients and strengthen its position within the competitive creative industry – even landing them as Best Branding or Identity of the Year finalists in 2025’s inaugural We Are Creative Awards.

Global expansion and impact

Pistachio’s commitment to creating strong, long-term partnerships has allowed the agency to reach global markets. The team work with clients across EMEA, APAC, United States and the Middle East, delivering successful campaigns and design solutions that have resonated with diverse audiences worldwide.

These international projects have included branding, creative digital experiences, content creation and animation projects for companies such as Wella, Sophos, SAS, IFS, Armis and Milwaukee that continue to raise the bar for design innovation. The agency’s work has not only helped clients improve their brand positioning but has also allowed Pistachio to position itself as a front-runner in the creative agency landscape.

Looking to the future

As Pistachio looks to the future, it aims to push the boundaries of creative, animation and digital design further with the opening of the Pistachio Motion Lab in Nottingham, a new design studio dedicated to innovation in 2D and 3D animation and motion.

The team is also about to launch the Nuts About Design podcast, a platform to share insights, trends, and creative dos and don’ts with the wider industry. These exciting new ventures reflect the agency’s ongoing commitment to growth, both internally and externally.

The agency has also pledged to raise £10,000 for Brain Tumour Research in 2025, in memory of Marie’s late husband, Dave Holden. This charitable effort exemplifies Pistachio’s commitment to giving back to the community and making a positive impact beyond the world of design.
