Actor Tom Holland unexpectedly swung into a business conference from the set of his new film ‘Spiderman – Brand New Day’ to talk about his new no-alcohol brand BERO.
The actor has long been candid with his fan base about his decision more than three years ago to cut alcohol out of his life and go sober. He talked about not having a dependence on alcohol but more a realisation that it was playing too significant a role in his life, and he was concerned it was robbing him of time and more authentic experiences. So he went sober in for Dry January after a boozy Christmas and kept on going. He’s now embraced that experience. He believes it’s made his life richer.
It’s a journey he’s shared with his huge social media fan base—the actor has a following of 63 million on Instagram alone.
What’s not widely known is that a year ago, he launched a no-alcohol beer brand, BERO, with business partner and now co-founder and CEO of BERO, John Herman, who has a background in the beverage sector.
John Herman appeared in person at the NetSuite annual conference in Las Vegas, talking about BERO’s first year and the decision to use NetSuite as the brand’s Cloud partner from day one. This is an unusual decision for a start-up, as the investment can seem prohibitive when a business is in its early days.
“BERO is a lifestyle brand, and it’s aspirational and inclusive. It’s not about telling others not to drink alcohol; it’s about producing great products that can be enjoyed by anyone,” John said.
Tom, who sent a video message from the set of his new film, apologised for not being able to attend in person; however, he wanted to show up as an entrepreneur who wanted to bring his own products to market. The brand already has 170 distribution partners in the UK and other territories. Recently the BERO team have also launched a limited edition coffee based product in partnership with fellow celebrity Robert Downey Jr, co-founder of Happy Coffee.
