As the demand for artificial intelligence (AI) talent skyrockets, five of the fastest growing AI roles to watch out for have been revealed.

FDM Group, a global talent solutions provider, has named five roles and industries that are significantly harnessing AI potential in 2023.

AI has experienced a rapid expansion in recent years and even more so in the last few months, reshaping industries and revolutionising how businesses operate. And with AI becoming increasingly prevalent, there is a soaring demand for skilled professionals who can harness its potential.

With ample opportunities available, it’s the prime time for candidates to brush up on their skills in preparation for a career in AI, and various jobs are maximising AI adoption in 2023 – from Data Science roles to Machine Learning Engineers.

Sarah Wyer, Data Architect specialising in Analytics, Automation and AI at FDM Group comments: “AI is advancing quicker than anyone could have anticipated, and the floodgates have opened to pave the way for a variety of new roles and in-demand skills.

“As a result, the demand for AI talent has skyrocketed, indicating the industry’s insatiable appetite for skilled professionals in the field.

“Artificial intelligence is posed to transform most workforces by augmenting and supporting human capabilities, and while some businesses are looking to upskill their existing employees, others are looking to hire new talent. So, we’ve revealed five jobs that AI is expected to create or revolutionise this year.”

Here are five of the fastest growing AI roles to watch out for in 2023:

  1. AI (Artificial Intelligence) /ML (Machine Learning) Engineer

AI/ML Engineers play a vital role in designing and deploying artificial intelligence and machine learning systems. Working as an AI/ML Engineer, your key responsibilities would include developing machine learning models, preprocessing data, and optimising algorithms to solve complex business problems.

Proficiency in programming languages like Python, R, and knowledge of machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow are essential skills. Additionally, a strong grasp of statistics, mathematics, and problem-solving abilities are crucial for model design and evaluation.

  1. Data Scientist

Data Scientists are skilled professionals that work to unlock valuable insights from vast amounts of data using cutting-edge technologies like AI. As businesses collect and store enormous datasets, Data Scientists possess the expertise to extract meaningful patterns, trends, and predictions that drive informed decision-making, which is enhanced through AI-powered data analytics.

As the demand for data-driven insights continues to grow, Data Scientists remain central to fostering innovation, enhancing efficiency, and shaping the future of industries across the globe. Want to get involved? The FDM Data Engineering Programme offers aspiring Data Scientists a comprehensive and practical learning experience, equipping them with the skills to handle complex data challenges and work placement with our leading clients.

  1. AI Product Manager

AI Product Managers play a crucial role in the development and implementation of AI-powered products. They act as the bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, translating complex AI capabilities into actionable product strategies. They possess a deep understanding of AI technologies, market trends, and customer needs, allowing them to identify opportunities where AI can create value.

To work as an AI Product Manager, individuals are required to have a unique blend of technical expertise, market understanding, and soft skills. They must possess a deep knowledge of AI technologies, machine learning, and data analytics while exhibiting strong product management capabilities for effective strategy and roadmap development.

  1. NLP (Natural Language Processing) Specialists

NLP (Natural Language Processing) Specialists play a pivotal role in the realm of language-based data by transforming unstructured text into valuable and actionable insights. In today’s data-driven world, vast amounts of textual data are generated daily, from customer reviews and social media interactions to documents and emails. NLP specialists have the expertise to design and implement algorithms and models that can comprehend, interpret, and extract meaningful information from this unstructured data.

NLP specialists contribute to cutting-edge applications like chatbots and virtual assistants, enhancing customer experiences and automating various language-based tasks. To get started as an NLP Specialist, you will need skills in programming languages like Python, knowledge of NLP libraries and frameworks (NLTK, spaCy), data preprocessing, text analysis techniques, and machine learning algorithms.

  1. Computer Vision Engineers

Computer Vision Engineers are gaining immense importance across diverse industries, revamping fields like autonomous vehicles and medical imaging. For instance, in autonomous vehicles, Computer Vision Engineers develop algorithms that enable vehicles to perceive their surroundings, interpret road conditions, and make real-time decisions, ensuring safer and more efficient transportation.

The skills required for this role include expertise in programming languages like Python and C++, proficiency in computer vision libraries and frameworks (OpenCV, TensorFlow), knowledge of image processing techniques, deep learning algorithms, and model optimisation.
